OTTO HTL4-0051 linear Hall effect finger joystick, new in its bag with the square mounting flange and three screws. The body is printed OTTO 1020 and HTL4-0051. Twelve flying leads in six colors come out the back, ends stripped. Also searched as HTL4 0051, HTL40051 or simply as an OTTO Controls joystick.
Which OTTO family is the HTL4-0051?
It is from OTTO's HTL range of miniature 2-way and 4-way linear Hall effect finger joysticks, made for grips, armrests and control panels. The standard HTL4 order codes are long (HTL4-512131AA12 and similar). The short 0051 number does not follow that public order code, and we have no drawing for it, so the pinout and axis count are not given here.
How does a Hall effect joystick work?
A magnet moves over Hall sensors as the stick tilts, and the sensors put out a voltage proportional to the angle. Nothing rubs, unlike a potentiometer joystick with a wiper on a track. OTTO quotes up to 1 million cycles and EMI immunity up to 100 V/m for the HTL series.
What comes in the bag?
The joystick with its ribbed black rubber boot and round finger cap, a black square flange with four holes, and three black self-tapping screws, as in the first photo.

What supply voltage does an OTTO HTL joystick need?
OTTO's HTL series runs on 4.5 to 5.5 VDC. We have no drawing for the 0051 build, so check your equipment's wiring.
Hall effect joystick vs potentiometer: what is the difference?
A Hall effect joystick reads a magnet's position without contact, so there is no wiper to wear. A potentiometer joystick has a wiper sliding on a resistive track that wears and gets noisy.
Is the mounting hardware included?
Yes. The bag holds the square flange and three self-tapping screws shown in the first photo.
How many wires does the HTL4-0051 have?
Twelve flying leads, color-coded in pairs, with stripped ends. Some carry printed numbers.
