The Telemecanique LD5 LC.30. is an Integral 32 reversing self-protected motor starter (combination motor controller) rated 32 A, with a rated insulation voltage of 660 V. The front plate reads LD5-LC030 and the rating label reads LD5 LC.30.; Schneider Electric lists it as LD5LC030 followed by a coil voltage code. Integral 32 combines a disconnect, short-circuit protection, overload protection and contactors in one unit, and the LD5 version carries two contactors for forward and reverse motor control.
What does the rating label say?
Ie 32 A, Ui 660 V. AC-3 motor ratings: 7.5 kW at 220 V, 15 kW at 380, 415 and 440 V, 18.5 kW at 500 and 660 V. UL/CSA: 600 V AC max, 10 hp at 230 V, 20 hp at 460 V, 30 hp at 575 V, continuous current 32 A. Wiring AWG 8-18 copper, 60/75 °C, terminal torque 12 lb-in. The label lists IEC 158-1, 157-1 and 292-1, NF-C 63-110, 63-120 and 63-650, BS 5424, 4752 and 4941, and VDE 0660, and it is marked made in France.
Which protection module does it use?
The label says "Used with cat. LB. LC." and gives a range of 0.25-32 A; its wiring diagram shows an LB.LC03M module. In the Schneider Integral catalog, the reversing Integral 32 base unit is paired with an LB1LC03M thermal-magnetic protection module chosen for the motor current, from 0.25-0.40 A up to 23-32 A. The module rating is not identified in the photos, so check it with us before ordering.
How does a reversing motor starter work?
A reversing starter has two contactors that swap two of the three motor phases, so the motor runs forward on one contactor and in reverse on the other. The Integral wiring diagram on the label shows both coils (A1/A2) feeding outputs 2T1, 4T2 and 6T3 from supply terminals 1L1, 3L2 and 5L3.
