B&R X20AT2222, Rev. M6, sitting on an X20BM11 bus module Rev. H0. Two inputs for Pt100 or Pt1000 resistance temperature sensors. The housing is printed X20 AT 2222, Made in Austria. B&R calls it an analog input module for temperature measurement.
Which sensors does the X20 AT 2222 read?
Pt100 and Pt1000 to EN 60751, set per channel, -200 to 850°C. Wiring is 2- or 3-wire with a 250 µA constant measuring current. It can also read raw resistance, 0.1 to 4500 Ω. Resolution is 0.1°C from a 16-bit sigma-delta converter.
Is the X20BM11 bus module included?
Yes. Each module in the photos is clipped onto an X20BM11 bus module, Rev. H0, the base B&R lists for this I/O module (it sells the two separately). A grey terminal block with red wire entries is fitted on top; the moulding reads X20 TB12 as far as the photo shows.
How fast does it convert?
20 ms for one channel and 80 ms for both, with the 50 Hz filter. Filter time is configurable from 1 ms to 66.7 ms. Each channel is checked for open circuit and for over and under range, and the module shows run/error and per-channel LEDs.
Two module serials appear in the photos (70780482118 and 70780474176), so more than one unit was photographed.

Does the X20AT2222 take thermocouples?
No. It reads resistance sensors only, Pt100 or Pt1000, plus raw resistance.
Can I mix a Pt100 and a Pt1000 on one module?
Yes. The sensor type is configured per channel.
How does a Pt100 sensor work?
Its platinum element has 100 Ω at 0°C and the resistance rises with temperature. The module drives a small constant current through it and converts the measured resistance to °C.
Why use 3-wire instead of 2-wire?
The third wire lets the module subtract the lead resistance, which matters with Pt100 sensors and long cables. Pt1000 is less sensitive to it.
What is the X20BM11 for?
The bus module the X20AT2222 clips onto on the DIN rail. B&R sells it separately; here it comes fitted.
