Watson-Marlow 521I/RC close coupled peristaltic pump, part number 050.8572.100, new in open box. Continuous-tubing pumphead marked 1.6mm 1/16in on the rotor, a Watson-Marlow 0XZ-63L/4 MG0559 gearbox (ratio 4,75, 286 rpm) and a NORD three-phase 0.18 kW motor, all on one foot-mounted frame.
Does the 521I come with its inverter?
Not in these photos. Watson-Marlow builds the 521I as a variable speed pump run from a stand-alone inverter, mounted beside the pump or remote. What is shown is the pump, gearbox and motor only. Without an inverter the motor runs at fixed mains speed, 230/400 V Δ/Y at 50 Hz.
Which tube does the 520R head take?
Tube with a 1.6 mm (1/16 in) wall, which is what the RC code means in Watson-Marlow's tables. Bores run from 0.5 to 9.6 mm, at up to 2 bar (30 psi). For 2.4 mm wall tube you would need the 520R2 head instead. No tubing is shown.

What does the I in 521I stand for?
Inverter controlled. Watson-Marlow runs the 521I from a separate inverter for variable speed, while the 521VI has the inverter built in.
Watson-Marlow 520R vs 520R2 pumphead: what is the difference?
Tube wall. The 520R takes 1.6 mm wall tube, the 520R2 takes 2.4 mm wall and reaches higher flow. This pump has the 520R.
How does a peristaltic pump work?
Rollers squeeze the tube against a curved track and push the fluid ahead of them. The fluid only touches the tube, so there are no seals or valves in the flow path.
What is a close coupled pump?
One where the pumphead, gearbox and motor are bolted together as a single unit. On this one they sit on the gearbox foot.
Can it run on 60 Hz?
The NORD plate gives 60 Hz ratings: 265/460 V, 0.21 kW, 1660 min⁻¹.
