The Siemens 3TF54 is a 3-pole AC contactor for switching motors and other three-phase loads, rated 132 kW (177 HP) in AC-3 at 400/380 V and 300 A in AC-1. This unit is in its original Siemens box, made in Germany, with the Siemens operating instructions for the 3TF54, 3TF55 and 3TK54 and a bag of terminal bolts and washers. Auxiliary contact blocks are fitted on both sides of the housing.

3TF54, IEC 947, VDE 0660. AC-3 ratings: 78 kW (104 HP) at 230/220 V, 85 kW (113 HP) at 240 V, 132 kW (177 HP) at 400/380 V, 147 kW (197 HP) at 415 V, 178 kW (238 HP) at 500 V, 235 kW (315 HP) at 690/660 V and 132 kW (177 HP) at 1000 V. Ie AC-1 300 A, short-circuit rating Ik ≤ 50 kA at 690 V.
What are the UL ratings?
The plate lists 260 A at 600 V AC with maximum three-phase horsepower of 75 HP at 200 V, 100 HP at 230 V, 200 HP at 460 V and 250 HP at 575 V, break all lines, UL listed 165C industrial control equipment. It is suitable for circuits delivering not more than 18,000 rms symmetrical amperes at 600 V maximum. Auxiliary contacts are rated A600/P600. Use 75 °C copper wire only. Terminal kit 3TX6546-3C, tightening torque 340 lb-in (38 Nm).
What is the difference between AC-1 and AC-3?
AC-1 is for non-inductive or slightly inductive loads such as resistive heaters, so the contactor can carry more current: 300 A here. AC-3 is for starting squirrel-cage motors and switching them off while running, which is harder on the contacts, so the rating is given in motor kW and HP for each voltage.
What coil voltage does it have?
The coil voltage is not shown in the photos, so please ask before ordering. The enclosed Siemens instructions are the version for AC-operated contactors (Wechselstrombetätigung).

300 A in AC-1 (resistive loads). In AC-3 motor duty it is rated 132 kW / 177 HP at 400/380 V. The UL rating is 260 A at 600 V AC.
What is the difference between AC-1 and AC-3 contactor ratings?
AC-1 is for resistive, non-motor loads and allows a higher current. AC-3 is for starting and stopping squirrel-cage motors, which is harder on the contacts, so the rating is lower and given in kW or HP.
What motor size can it switch at 460 V?
The nameplate lists 200 HP three-phase at 460 V, and 250 HP at 575 V.
What is the coil voltage?
