This is a Navitar BrightLight LED coaxial illuminator for the Navitar 12X zoom lens, in new, open-box condition. It lights the sample through the lens itself, the method Navitar recommends for highly reflective parts that need even light without hot spots. This unit has a compact finned heatsink block, a black lamp housing with a coupling tube, and a cable ending in a round multi-pin plug.
Which systems use the BrightLight?
Navitar made the BrightLight coaxial illuminators for its Zoom 6000, 12X Zoom and Precise Eye lenses. The illuminator couples to the coax port of the lens and is driven by a Navitar BrightLight controller: an analog driver with a dimmer, or a digital controller with RS-232 or USB computer control. The controller and power supply are separate items.
Is there a part number on it?
No Navitar part number or colour marking is visible in the photos. Navitar offered the 12X BrightLight in several colour versions, each with its own part number.
What condition is it in?
New, open box. The cable carries an earlier owner's marker sleeves (one reads "W864"), as shown in the photos.

Questions about this part
What does a coaxial illuminator do?
It sends light down the optical axis of the lens, which gives even lighting on reflective, flat parts without hot spots.
Will it work without a controller?
No. Navitar runs the BrightLight from its own analog or digital driver with a separate power supply. The photos show the illuminator and cable only.
Which Navitar lenses take a BrightLight illuminator?
Navitar made BrightLight coaxial illuminators for its Zoom 6000, 12X Zoom and Precise Eye systems. This unit is sold as the 12X version.
