The MKS 51B11TGA2BA010 is a Baratron single-ended absolute pressure switch with a 10 Torr (1.33 kPa) full scale and a factory-set 10 Torr trip point, sold here for parts / not working. The 51B is a capacitance-manometer based vacuum switch with a relay output instead of an analog signal, used for soft pumping, gas box switching and safety interlocks. MKS has discontinued the 51B; the model is also searched as MKS 51B and MKS Baratron pressure switch.
What does the model code mean?
In the MKS ordering code, 51B is the single-ended absolute switch, 11T is 10 Torr full scale, GA is an NW 16 KF fitting, 2 is 20-30 VDC input, B means the relay energizes with pressure below the set point, A is a 9-pin Type D male connector and 010 is the trip point, 10 Torr.
How does a Baratron pressure switch work?
A metal diaphragm deflects with pressure and the change in capacitance against a fixed electrode is measured by the electronics, which switch an SPDT relay at the trip point. MKS rates the 51B at ±0.5% of full scale trip point accuracy and under 20 ms response, with only 316L stainless steel and Inconel exposed to the process gas. Because this unit energizes below the trip point, a loss of power gives the same relay state as high pressure, which is the fail-safe setup MKS describes for vacuum systems.

How does a Baratron pressure switch work?
