The KELK AIH-123QS-PP-UC is a Komatsu-branded CS-Heater heating unit, an inline chemical heater that warms process liquids flowing through high-purity quartz tubes with halogen lamps, part number ABCAA00160. KELK built the CS-Heater for semiconductor wet benches, where chemicals for wafer cleaning, etching and resist stripping have to be heated without contact with metal parts. The nameplate reads: KOMATSU, Model AIH-123QS-PP-UC with controller AIC-7-12-UC, Part No ABCAA00160, KELK Ltd., made in Japan, conforms to UL STD 61010A-1, ETL listed.
How does a quartz inline chemical heater work?
The liquid flows through transparent quartz glass tubes and never touches the heating element. Halogen lamps outside the tubes radiate near-infrared light that heats the liquid. KELK states this keeps the wetted surface cooler, limits dissolution of glass into the liquid, and keeps lamp fragments out of the chemical if a lamp breaks. Lamps can be replaced from one side without disconnecting the tubes.
What are the AIH-123 series specifications?
According to the KELK brochure, the AIH-123 series pairs with the AIC-7-12 controller and has a 12 kW heater, a 50 to 170 °C setting range depending on the chemical and system, PID control with soft start, 0.5 MPa allowable liquid pressure, leak and overheat detection, and RS-232C communication. Piping uses 20 mm quartz fittings made by Nippon Pillar Packing, which KELK does not include with the heater.
What is in the photos?
The heating unit only: white enclosure marked AIH-123QS for AIC-7-12, IN and OUT quartz pipe connections, a terminal wiring diagram (heater terminals TB2/TB3, and TB1 for the K, HT, OH and LEAK signals, the leak sensor on +5V/SIG/GND), heat, chemical, voltage and lamp-handling warning labels, and the flying signal leads. The AIC-7-12 controller is not shown. Condition: used.
