The Brooks Automation 002-8421-02 is a BrooksNet DN network I/O module, made in the USA by Brooks Automation of Chelmsford, Massachusetts. The front panel carries round network IN and OUT connectors, two rotary switches for the node address (MSD and LSD), a baud-rate switch with 125, 250 and 500 kbaud positions plus PGM, a reset button, and LEDs for power, status, node address and output fault. A 50-position ITT Cannon D-sub connector marked DDMG-50S is on the side. Also searched as 002842102 or BrooksNet DN module.
What do the front-panel lights show?
The printed legend explains them. POWER is green for power OK and orange for "24V too low – check voltage". The NET and MOD status lights show network and module state, from on-line with no communication to critical module fault. The NODE ADDRESS light is off when the address comes from the switches (the default) and red when it is set by the network. OUTPUT FAULT indicates a short, overload or over-temperature on the outputs, cleared with the output fault reset button or a computer command.
