Barnstead Pura-Lite E3451 water purity indicator, 200K ohms/cm, sold for parts / not working. The body is printed PURA-LITE, 200K ohms/cm, E3451, Barnstead, SYBRON, 120V 60HZ. It came out of a Lumenis system and is listed under that brand here, but every marking on it is Barnstead's.
What does a Pura-Lite do?
It screws into the outlet of a deionized water system and works as a water quality indicator light: a go/no-go reading of water purity. The E3451 trips at 200,000 ohm-cm. Barnstead sold it for its B-Pure water purification cartridge systems, so you can see at a glance when a cartridge is due. The E3450 (50,000 ohm-cm) and E3452 (1,000,000 ohm-cm) are the same part with other set points.
Will it thread into my housing?
The cell has a 1/2 inch NPT male thread. White PTFE tape is still wrapped on it. The probe end has two electrodes inside a slotted guard.
What is on the power cord?
A plug-in AC/DC adaptor, model YL-35-090200D by Dongguan Yinli Electronics: 120 V AC 60 Hz in, 9 V DC 200 mA out, UL listed, US two-pin plug. Yellow warning tags are still on the cord.

Questions about this part
What resistivity does the E3451 switch at?
200,000 ohm-cm, printed on the body as 200K ohms/cm.
What is the difference between DI water resistivity and conductivity?
They are the inverse of each other. 200,000 ohm-cm (0.2 megohm-cm) equals 5 microsiemens/cm, so higher resistivity means purer water.
Is there a version with a different set point?
Yes. Barnstead made the E3450 at 50,000 ohm-cm and the E3452 at 1,000,000 ohm-cm.
Can I run it on 230 V?
Not as it is. The body is marked 120V 60HZ and the adaptor is a 120 V US plug.
Why is it sold for parts?
It is not working, or its function is not known. Expect to repair it or use it for spares.
