Schneider GV2ME20, a TeSys motor circuit breaker for three-phase motors drawing 13 to 18 A. New open box, in the green Schneider carton labelled TeSys 034319, made in France. It is the GV2ME20 with screw clamp terminals and start/stop push buttons on the front. Also written GV2 ME20 or GV2-ME20.
What motor size does the GV2ME20 protect?
Schneider lists it for three-phase motors up to 7.5 kW at 400 V. Set the motor full load current on the dial anywhere from 13 to 18 A.
How does a motor circuit breaker work?
It combines two trips in one unit. The thermal part trips on a sustained overload above the dial setting; the magnetic part trips at once on a short circuit, at 13 times the rated current on this model. You switch the motor on and off with the push buttons.
Motor circuit breaker vs thermal overload relay: which do I need?
A thermal overload relay only trips a contactor; it has no short-circuit protection and no on/off buttons. The GV2ME20 protects against both overload and short circuit and can start the motor by itself, or sit upstream of a contactor.
