This is a DTA Electra 30-11F camera assembly: the Electra head (label: 13.8V 70W, CE) mounted on a brass vacuum block with a thermocouple vacuum gauge, sold with its DTA power supply, the Electra user manual and a foam-lined carry case. The included manual, by dta s.r.l. (2006), describes Electra as a series of cooled CCD cameras with a USB connection to the PC. Condition: used.
What does the Electra manual say?
The introduction page shown in the photos lists: USB connection to the PC, powered by 13.8 V (for battery operation), back- and front-illuminated sensors (by Kodak and e2v technologies), full-frame architecture, a fast 16-bit A/D converter at variable gain and a slow 16-bit A/D converter for high dynamic range, deep cooling with a big double-stage Peltier (more than 50 °C ΔT), a large fan with programmable rotational tuning, and an advanced user port for automation and camera synchronization. It also names the 230/115 V power supply, an electromechanical shutter and a lens adapter as add-ons.
What is in the assembly?
The head has a finned black heat sink with a guarded fan. The rear panel carries a high-density D-sub connector, a USB Type-B port and a 5-pin circular power connector. Under the head is a brass block with a 2-pin feedthrough, a stainless steel tube on a flanged port, and a Huntington Mechanical Laboratories thermocouple vacuum gauge tube with an octal-style base. The face of the brass block is covered with tape and a cardboard pad in the photos.
What about the power supply?
The DTA power supply is labeled 230 V 0.5 A max, serial 0600326, CE, the same serial as the camera head label (SN 0600326). It has an on/off switch, an indicator light, a round multi-pin output socket, a rear fan and a fixed mains cord with a three-pin plug.

What is the DTA Electra 30-11F?

How does a Peltier-cooled CCD camera work?
A thermoelectric (Peltier) cooler pumps heat away from the CCD sensor into a heat sink and fan, so the sensor runs colder and produces less dark current noise. The Electra manual specifies a double-stage Peltier with more than 50 °C ΔT.
What power does it need?
The head is rated 13.8 V, 70 W. The included DTA power supply is rated 230 V input, 0.5 A max.
Is the power supply matched to the head?
Both labels carry the same serial number, 0600326.
What is the thermocouple vacuum gauge for?
A thermocouple gauge measures rough vacuum by the cooling of a heated wire. Here a Huntington Mechanical Laboratories gauge tube is mounted on the brass block under the camera head.

No label in the photos states the sensor. The manual says the series uses back- or front-illuminated sensors by Kodak and e2v.
