The Astec MP8-3W-1Q-00 (Astec P/N 73-580-0321) is an MVP Series modular AC-DC power supply with two outputs: 48 V at 12.5 A and 24 V at 8.5 A, rated 800 W at 100-240 VAC input and 1000 W at 200-240 VAC. It is built on the MP8 case, which takes plug-in output modules, and has two cooling fans, an internal 20 A / 600 V fuse, and AC OK and DC OK status LEDs. The label says Product of Philippines.
What does MP8-3W-1Q-00 mean?
In the MP Series ordering code, MP8 is the 2.5 x 7 x 10 inch case for 800 to 1000 W with 6 module slots. 3W is a 600 W single-output module (3 slots) at 48 V, and 1Q is a 210 W single-output module (1 slot) at 24 V. The final 00 means no case options. This matches the label: V1 48.00 V @ 12.5 A and V2 24.00 V @ 8.5 A.
What are the input ratings?
The label gives 100-240 V, 13 A max, 50/60/400 Hz for 800 W max output, and 200-240 V, 13 A max, 50/60/400 Hz for 1000 W max output. The label also warns that leakage current can exceed 3.5 mA, so an earth connection is needed before the supply is connected.
What signals does it have?
The fan end has AC OK and DC OK LEDs and the J1 control connector. In the MP Series datasheet, J1 carries the input AC OK and global DC OK signals (opto emitter/collector), global inhibit/enable, and a 5 V housekeeping output.
What condition is it in?
Used. The photos show the module end with the output screw terminals and a yellow cover over one terminal block.

Questions about this part
What voltages does the Astec MP8-3W-1Q-00 output?
Two outputs: V1 48.00 V at 12.5 A and V2 24.00 V at 8.5 A, as printed on the label.
How much power can it deliver?
The label rates it 800 W max at 100-240 VAC input and 1000 W max at 200-240 VAC input.
How does a modular power supply like the Astec MVP work?
A common AC input front end feeds plug-in output modules. Each module sets its own output voltage and current, so one case can be built with different output combinations. This unit has a 48 V module and a 24 V module.
What is the difference between the 3W and 1Q modules?
In the MP Series code, 3W is a 600 W, 3-slot single output at 48 V, and 1Q is a 210 W, 1-slot single output at 24 V.
Does it have power-good signals?
Yes. It has AC OK and DC OK LEDs, and the J1 connector carries AC OK and DC OK signals plus inhibit/enable, per the MP Series datasheet.
Does it need an earth connection?
Yes. The label warns that leakage current exceeds 3.5 mA and that an earth connection is essential before connecting the supply.
