The Yamato Electric Works Cooltron SVC-803A-X2A-US is the power source part of a circulating thermoelectric cooling and heating device: the control and power unit that drives external thermomodules and holds a liquid at a set temperature. The front panel reads "COOLTRON, POWER SOURCE PART, CIRCULATING METHOD, THERMOELECTRIC COOLING&HEATING DEVICE", and the model plate reads SVC-803A-X2A-US, serial P0612040, made in Japan. A tag on the front reads TCU-01.
What is on the front panel?
A digital temperature controller (PV and SV displays, AT, OUT1, OUT2, ALM1 and ALM2 indicators), an OUTPUT CURRENT (DC A) meter, COOLING and HEATING process lamps, a power lamp and an ON/OFF switch. Warning lights are split into WARNING 1 FAILURE (thermosensor, cooling fan) and WARNING 2 CHECK (liquid circulation, radiating water, upper/lower limit). A notice label gives the controller settings as proportional band equivalent to 3 °C, integral time 0 and derivative time 0.
What connections are on the back?
PT100Ω INPUT, ALARM OUTPUT, INTERNAL SENSOR (cable), PROTECTIVE CIRCUIT, THERMOMODULES, AC100V INPUT (cable), RS 485, UPPER/LOWER LIMIT, ON/OFF INPUT COOL & HEAT, EARTH, two NO FUSE breakers, and covered ports marked EXTERNAL TEMP.CONTROLLER and LINKAGE. A cooling fan grille is on the right. The power cable and a signal cable end in open wire ends.
How does a thermoelectric cooling and heating device work?
Thermoelectric (Peltier) modules move heat from one side to the other when DC current flows through them; reversing the current switches between cooling and heating. This power source supplies and controls that DC current, and the front-panel meter shows it in amps.
What condition is it in?
Used. The unit is marked for AC100V input.

Questions about this part
What is the Yamato Cooltron SVC-803A-X2A-US?
The power source part of a Yamato Electric Works Cooltron circulating thermoelectric cooling and heating device. It drives and controls the thermomodules.
Does it include the thermomodules?
No. This is the power source unit only; the thermomodules connect to the THERMOMODULES connector on the back.
How does a thermoelectric cooler work?
A Peltier module pumps heat from one face to the other when DC current flows. Reversing the current reverses the heat flow, so the same module can cool or heat.
What input voltage does it use?
The back panel marks the power input as AC100V.
Can it be controlled remotely?
The back panel has RS 485, ON/OFF INPUT COOL & HEAT, ALARM OUTPUT and UPPER/LOWER LIMIT connectors. Protocol details are not printed on the unit.
What temperature sensor does it use?
The back panel has a PT100Ω INPUT connector and an INTERNAL SENSOR cable.
What condition is it in?
Used.
