This Shimadzu EI-3203MD-A1 is a turbomolecular pump controller, labelled by Shimadzu as a "TMP power unit". The nameplate gives ~200–240 V AC, 50–60 Hz, 1.8 kVA and a weight of 16 kg, with date code '04-07 and "Made in Japan". It has a front panel with rack-mount flanges, and the badge on the front reads EI-3203MD. You may also find it as EI3203MD-A1.
Which pump does it run?
The rear panel has separate MOTOR and MAG. BRG. connectors, and the front has a Mag. Bearing alarm, so it is built for a magnetic-bearing turbo pump. Shimadzu's published data for the base EI-3203MD names the TMP-3203LM and TMP-3203LMC, but we found no Shimadzu document that covers the -A1 version, so please check it against the pump fitted to your system.
How is it operated?
Start, Stop and Reset keys sit next to a Local / Remote switch. Lamps report Rotation, Normal, Acceleration and Brake, and alarm lamps cover Motor, Mag. Bearing, Controller Temp., Pump Temp. and Power Failure, with four numbered indicators beneath. On the back are a REMOTE connector and a 9-pin D-sub interface port, plus the AC input, two 15 A fuses and the power switch.
