The Telemecanique LC1D115 is a Schneider Electric TeSys D 3-pole power contactor rated 115 A in AC-3 (55 kW at 400 V, 75 hp at 460 V), and this unit carries a 230 V AC 50/60 Hz coil, which makes it the LC1D115P7 version. A contactor is an electrically operated switch for motors and heavy loads: when the coil is energized, the three main poles close and connect the load to the supply. The LC1D115 also has one normally open and one normally closed auxiliary contact built in, for control and interlocking.

What is the difference between AC-1 and AC-3 rating on a contactor?
AC-1 is for resistive or slightly inductive loads such as heaters, and AC-3 is for starting and switching off squirrel-cage motors. Schneider rates the LC1D115P7 at 200 A in AC-1 and 115 A in AC-3, both up to 440 V at 60 °C.
How is it connected and mounted?
The main terminals are box connectors: one cable of 10 to 120 mm² or two cables of 10 to 50 mm² (AWG 8 to 250 MCM) per terminal, tightened to 12 N·m with a 4 mm hex key. The Telemecanique LA9 D115603/604 connector blocks are fitted on both sides in the photos. The coil terminals A1/A2 are screw clamps. The contactor mounts on a plate or on a rail.
