A block camera is a camera without a housing, made to be built into PTZ domes, inspection systems and other equipment. The model is also searched as FCB EX980P and FCBEX980P.

How is it controlled?
Zoom, focus, exposure, white balance and the other functions are set with VISCA commands over a TTL/CMOS serial interface at 9.6, 19.2 or 38.4 kbps. The camera also supports external sync (V-Lock).
What is the difference between the FCB-EX980P and FCB-EX980SP?
Both have the 26x lens. Sony's manual lists the FCB-EX980P with about 440,000 effective pixels and the FCB-EX980SP with about 740,000 (PAL) and an image stabilizer. The FCB-EX980 (no P) is the NTSC version.
