This is an Ocean Optics S2000 miniature fiber optic spectrometer set up for 520-800 nm, supplied with an Ocean Optics ADC500 Rev A ISA-bus A/D converter card and an Ocean Optics S2000 interface cable. The S2000 is a palm-size CCD spectrometer: light enters through an SMA 905 fiber connector, a fixed grating spreads it across a 2048-element linear CCD, and the A/D card turns the detector signal into a spectrum on the PC. The back label reads S2000 R.J. The markings are Ocean Optics; the store lists it under Lumenis aesthetic laser parts.
How is this unit configured?
The Ocean Optics wavelength calibration data sheet for this serial number lists a single fiber optic spectrometer with a 1200 line holographic VIS grating, a 520-800 nm bandwidth, and two installed options: an L2 lens and a GG475 filter.
What is the ADC500 card?
Per the Ocean Optics S2000 manual, the ADC500 is a 12-bit, 8-channel, single-ended, half-length card for an ISA slot in a desktop PC, with a 500 kHz sampling frequency. Base address and IRQ are set with two DIP switch banks (SW1 and SW2); the defaults are 768 decimal (300 hex) and IRQ 7. It needs a computer with an ISA slot.
How does a CCD spectrometer work?
Light from the fiber passes the entrance optics, is reflected inside an asymmetric crossed Czerny-Turner bench, and is spread by the grating so each CCD pixel sees a narrow band of wavelengths. The integration time (3 to 65,000 ms on the S2000) sets how long each pixel collects light before the A/D converter reads it out.
What is in the photos?
The S2000 in its beige enclosure with the Ocean Optics front panel and SMA fiber input, the rear panel with a 25-pin and a 15-pin D-sub connector, the ADC500 card with its 37-pin D-sub bracket, and the blue interface cable with a 37-pin and a 25-pin D-sub connector. Condition: used.

Questions about this part
What wavelength range does this S2000 cover?
520 to 800 nm, per the Ocean Optics wavelength calibration data sheet for this serial number (1200 line holographic VIS grating).
How does a CCD spectrometer work?
A grating spreads the incoming light across a line of CCD pixels, so each pixel measures one narrow wavelength band. The A/D converter reads all 2048 pixels and the software plots them as a spectrum.
What computer does the ADC500 card need?
A desktop PC with a free ISA slot. The ADC500 is a half-length ISA-bus card; most modern PCs have no ISA slot.
What software runs the S2000?
The Ocean Optics S2000 manual covers OOIBase32 operating software with the ADC500 card.
What fiber connector does it use?
SMA 905, for Ocean Optics and other SMA-terminated fibers and probes.
What is included?
The S2000 spectrometer, the ADC500 Rev A card and the S2000 interface cable shown in the photos.
What condition is it in?
Used.
