The MKS Ion Systems AeroBar Model 5685 is a steady-state DC ionizing bar with IsoStat technology, built to control static charge in laminar-flow hoods, workstations and mini-environments. Its aerodynamic profile ionizes a local area without disturbing laminar airflow, and it works best 12–24 inches above the work with airflow of at least 60 fpm. The label on this bar reads Ion Systems, Inc., Alameda, CA, Model 5685 Ionizer, Input 24 VAC 50/60 Hz. The product line is now sold by Simco-Ion.
How does IsoStat balancing work?
IsoStat isolates the emitter points from ground, so the bar produces equal numbers of positive and negative ions with no closed-loop balancing circuit. The maker states it needs no calibration and no balance adjustment. For best balance, mount the bar at least 6 inches from grounded surfaces.
What power supply does the AeroBar 5685 need?
It runs on 24 VAC. The label on this bar names the 14-1310 wall transformer; current Simco-Ion literature lists the 33-1420-01 (120 V), 33-1430-01 (230 V, EU) and 33-1433-01 (230 V, UK) power supply kits. This offer is for the bar only; the photos show no transformer or cable.
