The Mitsubishi HC-KFS053K is a 50 W, low-inertia AC servo motor from Mitsubishi Electric's MELSERVO-J2-Super family. It delivers 0.16 N·m of rated torque at 3000 r/min, carries a 17-bit absolute encoder (131,072 pulses per revolution), and runs on MR-J2S-10A, MR-J2S-10B and the other 100 W-class MR-J2S servo amplifiers. Which servo amplifier drives the HC-KFS053K?
The HC-KFS053K is matched to the 100 W MR-J2S servo amplifiers. Use MR-J2S-10A (pulse train / analog), MR-J2S-10B (SSCNET), MR-J2S-10CP or MR-J2S-10CL on 200–230 V AC mains, or the MR-J2S-10A1, 10B1, 10CP1 and 10CL1 versions on 100–120 V AC mains. The 51 V on the nameplate is the motor-side voltage produced by the amplifier, not a supply you connect directly.
Where is the HC-KFS053K used?
Low-inertia HC-KFS motors are built for fast, short moves under light loads. Typical machines include belt-driven axes, pick-and-place and assembly machines, small robots, X-Y tables, labelling and packaging equipment, and semiconductor and electronics handling tools built around the MR-J2S drive generation.
What condition is this motor in?
Used. The housing shows no visible damage, and the power and encoder cables and their connectors are intact, as shown in the photos. The unit in the photos has a timing-belt pulley fitted on the shaft.
Is there a newer replacement?
In Mitsubishi's current MELSERVO-J4 line, the 50 W low-inertia motor is the HG-KR053, driven by an MR-J4-10A or MR-J4-10B amplifier. It is not a drop-in swap: the HG-KR053 needs a J4 amplifier and new cables. If your machine runs on MR-J2S drives, the HC-KFS053K is the part that fits without changing the drive, the cabling or the controller program.

What is the difference between HC-KFS053, HC-KFS053B and HC-KFS053K?
All three are the same 50 W motor. HC-KFS053 has the standard straight shaft, HC-KFS053B adds an electromagnetic holding brake, and the K suffix marks Mitsubishi's special shaft-end version. Electrical ratings and amplifier compatibility are the same.
Why does the nameplate say 51 V when my drive runs on 200 V?
The 51 V, 0.9 A on the nameplate describes the voltage and current the amplifier feeds the motor at rated output. The amplifier itself connects to 200–230 V AC (or 100–120 V AC for the "1" versions). Never connect the motor directly to mains power.
Does the HC-KFS053K have a brake?
No. The brake version is the HC-KFS053B. If your axis is vertical or must hold position with power off, check whether the original motor had a brake before ordering.
Can I replace the HC-KFS053K with a Mitsubishi HG-KR053?
Only if you also replace the amplifier. The HG-KR053 is the 50 W MELSERVO-J4 motor and needs an MR-J4 amplifier and J4 cables. To keep an MR-J2S system running unchanged, replace like for like with an HC-KFS053K.
What should I check before installing a used HC-KFS053K?
Match the full model number on the nameplate, including the B or K suffix. Check that the shaft turns freely by hand, that the encoder and power connectors are undamaged, and that the absolute-position battery on the amplifier is fitted if your system uses absolute mode.
