Kinetrol 023-100 Model 02 vane actuator, stacked with a 020-020 spring unit and a switch housing on top. Some catalogues write it Kinetrol 023 100. The actuator label reads Code 023-100, serial 1634203, p.max 7 bar (100 psi), Made in England, built 2014. The spring unit is from 2015. Every CE label carries the Kinetrol address code GU9 9NU, UK.
Double acting or spring return?
The actuator on its own is double acting: in Kinetrol's code, 023 is the Model 02 ISO/DIN flange version and -100 means actuator, no spring. The 020-020 unit on top of it is the spring. Kinetrol uses the -020 ending for a Model 02 spring unit that returns clockwise. Fitted together, the spring turns the shaft back clockwise when the air is removed.
Is it ATEX rated?
The spring unit has its own plate: TYPE 020-020, serial 1715321, Ex II 1GDc, Baseefa03ATEX0443X, 90 °C, Ta -20 to 80 °C. The actuator and top housing carry only CE labels, and the top cover says not to open it when energised. There is no code label on the top housing, so we can't say which switches are inside.
How much torque does the spring give?
Kinetrol lists 4.7 Nm (42 lbf in) at the start of the spring stroke and 3.7 Nm (33 lbf in) at the finish for the Model 02 spring unit.

How does a Kinetrol pneumatic actuator work?
Air pushes on a single vane fixed to the output shaft and turns it through 80 to 100 degrees. Air on the other port turns it back, or the spring does.
Which way does the spring return?
Clockwise. Kinetrol's -020 ending is the clockwise spring unit; -030 is counter clockwise.
What does GU9 9NU on the label mean?
It is the UK postcode printed with the Kinetrol name on each CE label. It identifies the maker, not the model.
Is the top box a Kinetrol limit switch box?
It is a Kinetrol electrical housing with a cable entry and a red position indicator. The switch type inside is not on any label we can see.
What is the difference between Kinetrol 023-100 and 024-100?
Both are Model 02 double-acting actuators. 024 is the metric-thread version; 023 is the ISO/DIN flange version.
What air supply does it need?
