The Applied Materials 0022-22057 REV03 is a bracket-mounted nitrogen flow assembly that combines a pressure regulator, a 0-100 psi gauge, an SMC PFM710-N01-B-M digital flow switch and a Gems A2014-S83 24 VDC solenoid valve. The parts are plumbed in line on a white Applied Materials bracket and wired to a cable with a round multi-pin connector. A tag on the line reads "N2 gas only, 125 psig (8.6 Barg) max supply pressure".
What does the SMC PFM710-N01-B-M do?
It is an SMC PFM7 series digital flow switch with an integrated 2-colour display. It measures gas flow from 0.2 to 10 L/min and switches two PNP outputs at set points you choose. The label reads: flow rate 0.2-10 L/min, max. pressure 0.75 MPa, supply 24 VDC Class 2, max. 55 mA, OUT1 (black) PNP 80 mA, OUT2 (white) PNP 80 mA, Made in Japan.
How does a digital flow switch work?
The sensor chip measures the flow in the line and shows it on the display. When the flow passes a set point, the switch output turns on or off, so the tool controller can alarm on low or no nitrogen flow. SMC lists dry air, N2, Ar and CO2 as applicable fluids for the PFM7 series.
What is the Gems A2014-S83 valve?
A Gems Sensors & Controls solenoid valve, labelled p/n A2014-S83, 24 VDC, 7.4 W, 200 PSI, orifice 5/64. It sits after the flow switch and opens or closes the nitrogen line on a 24 VDC signal; its lead is tagged SV4.
