What does an EMI filter do?
It sits between the mains supply (LINE side) and the equipment (LOAD side) and blocks high-frequency conducted noise in both directions: noise from the equipment getting back onto the mains, and mains noise getting into the equipment. The FN2090 uses two filter stages with high-permeability chokes for strong differential- and common-mode attenuation.
What does the B in FN2090B mean?
In the Schaffner FN2090 series, the B versions have no capacitors to earth, so their leakage current is 0.00 mA. Schaffner states they meet 1 MOP for medical equipment according to IEC 60601-1. The standard FN2090-16 has Y capacitors and up to 0.93 mA leakage, and the A type has low capacitance to earth.

How does an EMI filter work?
Chokes and capacitors between the LINE and LOAD terminals block high-frequency conducted noise, so noise from the equipment does not get back onto the mains and mains noise does not reach the equipment.
What is the difference between FN2090, FN2090A and FN2090B?
The standard FN2090-16 has Y capacitors to earth and up to 0.93 mA leakage. The A type has low capacitance to earth (0.13 mA). The B type has no capacitors to earth, so leakage is 0.00 mA, for medical equipment.
What does -06 mean?
The terminal style: Faston (quick-connect) tabs, 6.3 x 0.8 mm. Style -07 has wire leads and -08 has M4 screw terminals.
