The Siemens SIRIUS 3RV1041-4JA10 is a 3-pole, size S3 motor protection circuit breaker (MPCB) with an adjustable 45-63 A Class 10 overload release and a fixed 819 A instantaneous short-circuit release. It protects a three-phase motor against overload and short circuit and also serves as a manual ON/OFF switch for it. The part number is also searched as 3RV1041 4JA10 and 3RV10414JA10. Siemens lists it for motors up to 30 kW at 400 V (AC-3, 63 A).

What are the UL and CSA ratings?
The UL/CSA label lists it as a manual self-protected combination motor controller with a short-circuit current rating of 65 kA at 240 V and 480Y/277 V, and 30 kA at 600Y/347 V. Maximum motor ratings, 3-phase: 20 HP at 200-208 V, 25 HP at 230 V, 50 HP at 460 V, 60 HP at 575 V (600 V, 63 FLA max, 75 °C copper wire only). The label also says it is suitable as a motor disconnect.
How is it mounted and wired?
Snap-on 35 mm DIN rail or screw fixing. Main terminals are box terminals for 2x 10-50 mm² or 1x 10-70 mm² stranded (AWG 2x 10 to 1/0), tightened to 4-6 N·m (35-53 lb-in). Auxiliary switches are not built in; Siemens lists them as an add-on. Dimensions: 70 mm wide, 165 mm high, 174 mm deep.

What is the Siemens 3RV1041-4JA10?
A SIRIUS size S3 motor protection circuit breaker for three-phase motors, with a 45-63 A adjustable overload setting and an 819 A instantaneous trip.
What is the difference between a motor protection circuit breaker and an overload relay?
An overload relay only protects against overload and needs a contactor plus separate short-circuit protection. A motor protection circuit breaker like the 3RV1041-4JA10 has overload and short-circuit protection in one device and can switch the motor on and off by hand.
What does Class 10 mean?
Class 10 is the trip class of the overload release: at 7.2 times the set current it trips within 10 seconds. It suits motors with normal starting times.
How do I set the current?
Turn the dial to the motor's rated full-load current, between 45 and 63 A. The UL label notes the dial is set to FLA and the trip point is 125% of it.
Does it have auxiliary contacts?
No auxiliary contacts are built in. Siemens lists auxiliary switches as an add-on accessory for this breaker.
What size motor can it protect?
Per Siemens, up to 30 kW at 400 V (AC-3). The UL label gives 50 HP at 460 V and 60 HP at 575 V, 3-phase.
