This is a Pulsar UltraTWIN twin-channel ultrasonic level controller, wall-mount version with software revision 1.3.3.E, supplied with a Pulsar dB15 ultrasonic transducer on its cable. Both are made by Pulsar Process Measurement Ltd in England. The UltraTWIN runs two measurement points from one unit, and the dB15 is the transducer that sends the ultrasonic pulse and receives the echo from the liquid or solid surface.

What does the UltraTWIN do?

Pulsar describes the UltraTWIN as a two-channel controller in which each channel works on its own as a level and volume monitor for liquids and solids, a pump controller, or an open channel flow monitor. It can also show differential level between two points. The wall version has two displays, a keypad and six relay indicator LEDs. Pulsar lists six form C (SPDT) relays rated 5 A at 240 V AC and two isolated 4-20 mA or 0-20 mA outputs.

How does an ultrasonic level sensor work?

The transducer, mounted above the material, sends a short ultrasonic pulse down to the surface and times the echo. The controller turns that time into distance, and from distance into level, volume or flow. The dB15 is listed for distances up to 15 m at 40 kHz.
