These are HepcoMotion stainless steel long-stud journal bearings, size 25, double row and nitrile sealed: SSRLJ25CDRNS (concentric) and SSRLJ25EDRNS (eccentric). HepcoMotion journal bearings run on the V edges of Hepco ring slides and track; the concentric bearing is fixed and sets the datum, the eccentric one is turned to adjust preload. The product is listed as a lot of 6, in the original HepcoMotion boxes.
What does the part number mean?
In the HepcoMotion code, SS is stainless steel, RLJ is the through-fixing journal with the long stud, 25 is the bearing diameter in mm, C is concentric (fixed) and E is eccentric (adjustable), DR is the double row bearing and NS is the nitrile seal. HepcoMotion supplies stainless steel bearings only in the nitrile-sealed version.
What is the difference between concentric and eccentric bearings?
A concentric bearing has its stud on the bearing axis, so it is a fixed reference. An eccentric bearing has an offset stud, so turning it moves the bearing toward or away from the slide to set the running clearance. Systems normally use concentric bearings on one side and eccentric on the other.
What do the box labels say?
SSRLJ25CDRNS, 2 off, dated 29/06/20, label C; SSRLJ25EDRNS, 2 off, dated 01/07/19, label E; both "Made in the U.K." with an 18 Nm tightening torque sticker. Each bearing comes with its nut and washer.
Why double row?
Per HepcoMotion, the double row (DR) bearing has a one-piece outer ring with two ball tracks, giving more load capacity, life and stiffness than the twin bearing type, and copes better with debris. The nitrile seal (NS) seals better against water and debris than metal shields.
