The Carlo Gavazzi PC50CND10RP is a diffuse-reflective photoelectric sensor with a range up to 1 m, a universal 12-240 VDC / 24-240 VAC supply and an SPDT relay output rated 3 A. It sits in a compact 17 x 50 x 50 mm reinforced PC/ABS housing and uses modulated infrared light at 880 nm. The part number is also searched as PC50 CND 10 RP.
What does the part number mean?
The Carlo Gavazzi ordering key reads PC 50 C N D 10 R P: PC housing style, 50 housing size, C housing material, N housing length, D diffuse detection principle, 10 sensing distance (1 m), R relay output and P output configuration, here make and break switching (NO and NC).
How does a diffuse photoelectric sensor work?
The sensor sends out light and switches when enough of it is reflected back from the object itself, so no separate reflector or receiver is needed. Carlo Gavazzi rates the 1 m range on a white test card with 90% reflectivity; darker or smaller targets give a shorter range. Sensitivity is adjusted with a single-turn potentiometer, and light or dark operation is switch selectable.
What does the label say?
Carlo Gavazzi PC50CND10RP, Diffuse, Sn: 1 m; Ue 24-240 VAC 50/60 Hz, 12-240 VDC; contacts 30 VDC / 240 VAC, max 3 A; wires BN, BU, GY, BK, WH; UL Listed Ind. Cont. Eq. 9N87, CSA and CE; code 051704.
What is in the photos?
The sensor on a galvanized steel bracket with its grey cable. The cable has been cut and its wire ends are bare, and a number "90-061-1163" is handwritten on the housing. Condition: used.

Questions about this part
What is the Carlo Gavazzi PC50CND10RP?
A diffuse-reflective photoelectric sensor with up to 1 m range, universal AC/DC supply and an SPDT relay output.
What is the difference between a diffuse and a retroreflective sensor?
A diffuse sensor detects light reflected from the object itself. A retroreflective sensor sends light to a separate reflector and switches when the object breaks that beam. The PC50CND10RP is the diffuse type.
What voltage does the PC50CND10RP need?
12 to 240 VDC or 24 to 240 VAC, 50/60 Hz. The label and the Carlo Gavazzi data sheet both give this range.
What can the relay output switch?
Resistive loads up to 3 A at 250 VAC or 3 A at 30 VDC, with both NO and NC contacts.
How is it wired?
Five wires: brown and blue for the supply, grey, black and white for the relay contacts, as shown on the label wiring diagram.
Is the cable full length?
No. The cable has been cut and the wire ends are bare; the length left is not stated. New units ship with a 2 m cable.
What condition is it in?
Used, on a steel bracket, with a handwritten number on the housing and a cut cable.
