The SAM SFC1480 MC-4V4C2 is a Hitachi Metals mass flow controller set up for helium (He) with a 50 CCM full-scale flow rate. A mass flow controller (MFC) measures the gas flowing through it and adjusts its built-in valve to hold the flow at the set point. Mass flow controllers like this one are used on process gas lines, for example in semiconductor and vacuum equipment.
What does the label say?
SAM Mass Flow Controller, Hitachi Metals, Ltd. Model: SFC1480, MC-4V4C2. Gas: He. CF: 1.392. Flow rate: 50 CCM. Made in Japan. The top labels repeat SFC1480 / MC-4V4C2, He 50 CCM, CF = 1.392, with a "MFCA" tag, a flow-direction arrow and a SAM "Q.A. Accepted" seal. Serial numbers shown in the photos: AE0074 and AF0080.
What is the difference between CCM and SCCM?
The SAM label defines both: CCM is mL/min at 25 °C and 1 atm, and SCCM is mL/min at 0 °C and 1 atm. This unit is rated 50 CCM. The CF value of 1.392 printed next to the gas is the conversion factor for helium on this controller.
What is in the photos?
The blue SFC1480 body with its stainless steel flow block, the valve section under a round aluminum cap, threaded metal inlet and outlet fittings, and a short gray cable ending in a round multi-pin connector. Two units with serial numbers AE0074 and AF0080 are photographed. Condition: used.

Questions about this part
What is the SAM SFC1480 MC-4V4C2?
A Hitachi Metals SAM mass flow controller, model SFC1480, code MC-4V4C2, labeled for helium at 50 CCM full scale.
How does a mass flow controller work?
It measures the gas flow passing through it and opens or closes its built-in control valve to keep the flow at the set point it receives from the tool or controller.
What gas is it calibrated for?
Helium (He), 50 CCM, with a conversion factor (CF) of 1.392 printed on the label.
What is the difference between CCM and SCCM?
Per the SAM label, CCM is mL/min at 25 °C and 1 atm, and SCCM is mL/min at 0 °C and 1 atm.
Is the SFC1480 the same as the SFC1480F?
No. The SFC1480F is a separate SAM digital series. This unit is labeled SFC1480 without the F, so SFC1480F data should not be assumed for it.
What condition is it in?
Used. Each unit carries its own SAM label and serial number.
